Fatigue is the result of physical or mental exertion that impairs performance.

According to FMCSA (USDOT) driver fatigue may be due to a lack of adequate sleep, extended work hours, strenuous work or non-work activities, or a combination of other factors. The Large Truck Crash Causation Study (LTCCS) reported that 13 percent of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers were considered to have been fatigued at the time of their crash.

If there were more truck stops for parking over night and or more rest areas (of course DOT shouldnt wake drivers up at while they were sleeping at the rest areas would also help).
Then when there is bad weather trucks cant pull off and park on on/off ramps in a lot of states they are told to keep driving in bad weather or when tired by DOT and other law enforcement because its too dangerous for them to park there. Wrong its more dangerous for them to be on the road.
Also when bad weather "sneaks up" on drivers and they close down roadways (ice, blizzards) Waystations have blocked the entrances and they also tell truckers to drive to next exit knowing its to dangerous to be on the road!!! Please tell me what truck drivers are supposed to do. They keep computer logs so its harder to keep 2 and 3 sets of log books.
If the federal and state government would by more property and build more places for truckers to stop and rest that is what gas taxes are supposed to help with.
